On 13th June 2018, DUNC attended project Johann’s (Joint development of Small Cruise Ship tourism heritage products) partner meeting in Karlskrona, Sweden. Our lead partner, Niklas Carlsson presented the work we are doing and put forward our ideas for the development of a small ship’s cruise between our Baltic Sea World Heritage sites. The ideas were welcomed and there were interesting discussions about perhaps not suggesting complete routes to the cruise companies but that the companies would be more interested in each harbour/site with the view to creating their own routes. We shall be investigating this further.
Perhaps our World Heritage sites can give an extra dimension to the small cruise company portfolios and strengthen the attractiveness of the destinations and the region as a whole. We had fruitful discussions and will continue our cross-project work with the Johann team in order to develop a quality cross-product.
